• It is observed that ‘Cruelty by husband and relatives’ continues to be the highest recorded crime against women (33%) followed by ‘assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty’ (25%). 

• Always, 7 percent of the total cognizable crime falls under the category of crime against women in 2016.

•  The crime committed against women in Rape, Kidnapping & Abduction, and assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty has been increasing gradually. As reported by NCRB, in 2016, 67% of the total crime cases against women have been disposed-off by police during 2016. The highest disposal to the extent of 75% of cases for investigation is in respect of the protection of women from the Domestic Violence Act 2007.
