HOW TO SELF-SOOTHE



Self-soothing strategies, simple yet effective, help us cope with overwhelming and intense emotions. These techniques soothe the mind and body when in a state of distress. When we self-soothe, we use the five senses to calm the nervous system.


SOUND

1) Listen to your favourite music- LOUD while you also sing

2) Visit somewhere with natural running water and listen to the sounds

3) Use a meditation app/video with soothing sounds

4) Talk to someone you love and listen to their voice.


SIGHT

1) Create soothing mood lighting with lamps, candles or fairy lights.

2) Look at your favourite art or photos

3) Watch your favourite TV show or movie.

4)  Surround yourself with nature or look out the window at the sky,Observe a Leaf,clouds mindfully

5) Read something uplifting


TASTE


  1. Eat your favorite meal: Savor the flavors and enjoy every bite.
  2. Eat something soothing like ice cream: The creamy texture and coolness can be very comforting.
  3. Drink something soothing: Try Masala tea, Kashmir tea, Araku filter coffee, chocolate milk, or milkshakes.
  4. Try a new recipe: Experiment with different ingredients and flavors.
  5. Enjoy fresh fruits: Their natural sweetness and juiciness can be very satisfying.
  6. Have a piece of dark chocolate: Relish its rich and intense flavor.
  7. Taste a variety of cheeses: Explore different textures and tastes.
  8. Sip on a warm soup: It’s comforting and can be packed with flavors.
  9. Indulge in a favorite dessert: Treat yourself to something sweet and delightful.
