Karma Karma.....

Karma is the law of the cause and effect of actions, according to which virtuous actions create pleasure in the future and non-virtuous actions create pain

glossary-

Karma - Destiny,Fate - It is a term about the cycle of cause and effect

Sanchita Karma - Sum total of all the past karmas accumulated.

Prarabdha Karma: Part of Sanchita Karma thatz fructified -- which is responsible
for the present body.

Agami (or vartamana or kriyamana) karma -- Karma that is being done in the
present life (with freewill) as an action/reaction to destiny instigated by the
samskaras/vasanas (tendencies/impressions) from past lives.
i.e current works

Will the Lord also lives by rules; would not he change/amend them even for the most beloved Bhakti.???

Prarabdha karma is the karma that is allocated to be worked out in this incarnation. Thus, for any individual, realized or otherwise, dissolution of prarabdha means death of the body. Put another way, to be alive, one needs atleast a pinch of residual Prarabdha left. When one's prarabdha is completed, consciousness moves out of the body.

From the perspective of the individual who has realized, his Prarabdha is complete. Literally, he is in this world but not of it. The realized individual experimentally understands that he is that which is unborn and ever free. How can prarabdha even touch this person? Bondage and suffering that was earlier perceived is now understood to have been illusory. Consciousness that was identified with the body-mind-ego in ignorance finally gets freed up when knowledge dawns.

From the perspective of external observers, realization cannot cannot dissolve actions that were born out of ignorance prior to realization. Since the creation of the body was itself an ignorance driven action, the body-mind continues for a while, driven by its prarabdha, just like a fan continues to run after electricity is switched off. Thus, devotees may see even realized saints enjoying and suffering just like the rest of us. This is the prarabdha of the body-mind-ego and not the saint.

Adi Shankaracharya is said to have dissolved the body at the age of 32 when his prarabdha was complete. This shows that generally karmic rules are followed even for great realized souls. On the other hand, it is said that his original life was only of 16 years and that the great Vyasa (the compiler of the Vedas) gifted him an additional 16 years to live, which suggests that certain exceptions may be possible to the rule.

  • Most of human beings have incarnated in a human-body due to residual Karma from previous life (this applies to animals as well).
  • The purpose of life(/incarnation) in a body/medium is to undo all the karmas accumulated over (all) the past lives.

Three Kinds of Karmas

1. Sanchita Karmas are accumulated works
2. Prarabdha Karmas are ripe or fructuous actions
3. Kriyamana or Agami Karmas are current works

Out of the Total Karmic Account (if you will), we take a chunk of it to experience (or rather undo) in a particular lifetime. This is called Prarabdha karma.

This includes good karma (punya) as well as bad karma (papa/sin).

Strictly according to these Prarabdha Karmas a person gets a particular type of body, parents, wife,

children, wealth, caste, creed, race, sex,
environment, etc. just appropriate to enjoy, suffer

and exhaust his Prarabdha Karmas destined during his
present lifetime.

Some Examples of Experiencing/undoing good karma is getting a good body, good

parents, good family, good education, good job, good offsprings etc.

Similarly, examples of undoing bad karma could be having calamities/accidents/

enemies/losses etc.
Well... a human being incarnates in a body with prarabdha karma. In the process,he/she does accumulates karma by acting/reacting (using freewill) to pre-destined situations (which occur due to prarabdha).

This is called Sanchita Karma (which gets added to the total karmic account)

eventually.
The net balance of the prarabdha karma and the additionally accumulated sanchita karma give rise to a grand total (at the end of one's life). This Grand Total is termed "Agami karma".

Until the agami karma reaches "0", one has to go through the cycle of births
and deaths.

  • To avoid sachita karmas (reactions using freewill), various virtues and various techniques ( service, worship, bhajans, devotion, attitude, being pure etc) are prescribed by the sadgurus to develop chitta-suddhi (purity of the mind). Once the mind is purified from negative thoughts etc. -- which is equated to a well-ploughed field, sadguru plants the seed of Gnana (knowledge) which will take root only if the mind continues to remain pure (through sadhana) and eventually gives rise to moksha (liberation).

In this fire of yoga sadhana, all the previous karmas (sanchita/agami) get burnt/destroyed. This is possible with seva (services, devotion).

The fire of true knowledge makes one do  pious deeds which reduces  the sins to ashes

As it is clearly visible that -->>>>

The end of wisdom is freedom.

The end of culture is perfection.

The end of education is character.

The end of knowledge is Love.

All the means are for THESE Ends....

When something happens, the only thing in your power is your attitude toward it; you can either accept it or resent it
